Educating for the Future: Are We Getting it Right?
So, what do you think? Are today’s early childhood classrooms inspiring the types of thinking and learning that our children will need to function in the world of tomorrow? Join the School Literacy and Culture team at Rice University on January 16, 2016, as we explore exciting ways to promote early literacy development while encouraging higher level thinking in our youngest learners. More than 400 teachers of toddlers to first graders were inspired by the combination of research and practical classroom ideas they received at last year’s summit. Join us this year to discover new ideas for promoting creative thinking and learning in your classroom!
With more than two dozen sessions to choose from, participants are in for a fabulous day of learning. If you’re a first time attendee, come learn why SLC’s renowned storytelling curriculum and parent engagement sessions are garnering national attention. Returnees will enjoy new sessions on “Makerspaces,” project-based learning, using developmentally appropriate apps and QR codes in the early childhood classroom and other strategies designed to promote speaking, listening, reading, writing and reasoning in our youngest learners.
