Happy Thanksgiving from School Literacy and Culture

It is the time of year when we set aside a full day to give thanks for all we are given. This year, we want to offer gratitude to you: the ones who commit your lives to teaching and raising young children.  Whether you are a parent, grandparent, teacher or caregiver, your impact on our youngest citizens is immeasurable. Your hugs warm up cold nights, your kisses heal skinned knees, your words of encouragement offer strength in times of weakness and your attention allows each child to feel that they are the most cherished in the world. Tomorrow, in the hubbub of roasting turkeys and baking pies, pull a youngster onto your lap and read them a story. Tell them of Thanksgivings when you were young.  Take an extra few moments in the preparing of the meal to teach them how to measure an ingredient for a dish. These are the moments memories are made of. Happy Thanksgiving!
